    Barry Smith

    Barry Smith has been Headteacher of North West Community Campus since joining Dumfries and Galloway Council.

    From August 2024, Langlands School joined into partnership with North West Community Campus Secondary School, and Barry became Headteacher of both schools.

  • Steven Jewell
    Depute Headteacher

    Steven Jewell

    Steven started his teaching career as an English and Media teacher, before moving into the area of Pupil Support. He was Principal Teacher of Pupil Support (Barriers to Learning) at Maxwelltown High School before taking on a secondment as Head of School at Elmbank Centre.

    Steven then became responsible for Primary and Secondary Inclusion across Dumfries and Galloway, as well as looked-after children. From 2019 to 2022, Steven was a Supporting Learners Manager, liaising with secondary schools across the region in relation to Additional Support Needs and Secondary Inclusion matters.

    He joined Langlands School as Acting Headteacher in March 2022 and became permanent Depute Headteacher in August 2024.

  • Emma MacKay
    Principal Teacher

    Emma MacKay

    Emma is a familiar face in Langlands. She has been a teacher here for many years.

    Emma is a trained Physio, and her background served her well when she then trained as a Primary Teacher. Emma has worked in a number of Dumfries and Galloway schools including Collin, Eastriggs and Loreburn Primary, but found her calling when she joined Langlands.

    Emma was previously Acting Principal Teacher during COVID, and has taken on the role again as of August 2022.

  • Morag Latimer
    School Support Manager

    Morag Latimer

    Morag is the School Support Manager for the entire North West Community Campus building, which includes Langlands. She supports the management team with the business management aspects of the school, including finance and staffing, building issues, and overseeing office functions, janitors, cleaners and catering.

  • Lyndsay Murphy
    Senior Clerical Assistant

    Lyndsay Murphy

    Lyndsay is the front face of Langlands School as our Senior Clerical Assistant. She runs our school office and supports pupils, staff, parents and visitors. She is also our designated first-aider.
